Yesterday was a big day for librarians. It was the day the winners of the Caldecott Award and the Newberry Award were announced.
David Wiesner won the Caldecott Award for his book “Flotsam.” You can see the book if you click the title.
Susan Patron won the Newbery Award for “The Higher Power of Lucky.” You can see the book if you click on the title.

Jess,
What a great question! The Greenfield Public Library has a copy of Flotsam. And while you can probably request interlibrary loan for The Higher Power of Lucky, it looks like most of the 17 copies found in the area libraries are being processed or are checked out right now. (You can keep tabs by going to the C/W MARS catalog at http://wmars.cwmars.org/search~/ )
I’m sorry to have to say it, but if you want to read it right away you may have to purchase a copy. A quick search on amazon.com showed the price to be about $12. Personally, my reading list is long, so I’m planning to wait a few months.
